This story is ridiculous, GPS works without "service. the writers are clearly boomers that don't understand technology and therefor produced a boring, nonsensical plot without logic or world-building.
Movies used to cover their bases, logically. Now all you need is a gimmick. It would not even have been that difficult to work around the logic problems of this movie.
It's too excited to jump into the story. Sorry, just because you have a recognizable actor in your movie doesn't mean you get to completely skip the first act.
